Same-day smile design usually refers to using digital dentistry technology (CAD/CAM, intraoral scanners, and 3D printers/milling units) to design and deliver cosmetic or restorative treatments — such as veneers, crowns — in a single appointment instead of several weeks. After a full mouth evaluation with X-rays and a full assessment, Dr Lizette Barzaga determines if a mock-up or provisionals are needed for more complicated cases.

How it works in dentistry:

1. Digital scan & photos – The dentist takes 3D scans of your teeth and high-quality photos of your face/smile.
2. Smile design software – A digital design is created immediately, showing what your improved smile will look like.
3. Mock-up or trial smile – Sometimes a temporary version is printed or milled so the patient can see and try the new look the same day.
